Sun Siyam Iru Fushi has completed the initial phase of its property-wide design transformation, introducing a reimagined overwater villa collection that marks a significant evolution for the resort under Sun Siyam’s Luxury Collection brand positioning.
Contemporary Design Meets Maldivian Craftsmanship

The five-star resort has introduced a refreshed overwater accommodation portfolio, establishing a new design direction focused on refined island aesthetics and locally inspired craftsmanship. The renovation represents the first chapter in a comprehensive resort transformation aimed at elevating the property’s luxury positioning.
Renovated Villa Categories
The newly redesigned overwater villas feature contemporary interpretations of Maldivian island living, incorporating ocean views, open-plan layouts, and spacious bathrooms with lagoon-facing bathtubs. Private decks include multiple lounging areas, suspended hammocks, and intimate seating zones designed in muted tones.
All Horizon Water Villas now include 22-square-meter private pools with sunken seating areas. The resort has tailored the accommodations particularly for couples and honeymooners seeking intimate experiences.
The overwater villa portfolio comprises:
- 40 Water Villas with Pool (123 sqm)
- 16 Horizon Water Villas with Pool (128 sqm)
- 19 Sunset Horizon Water Villas with Pool (128 sqm)
Each category offers privacy-focused design and lagoon access.
International Design Partnership

To support its positioning among the Maldives’ leading luxury resorts, Sun Siyam appointed Lee McNichol and Jose Rivero, Founders and Creative Directors of London-based Studio Sixty7, as international interior design consultants for the transformation.
The design approach introduces natural textures, muted color palettes, and organic forms intended to create relaxed luxury atmospheres. Design elements include plastered walls, tactile finishes, and linen fabrics aimed at establishing calm environments.
“Every element has been chosen to feel grounded and sensorial, inviting guests into a deep sense of calm,” McNichol and Rivero stated.
Comprehensive Experience Focus
Abdulla Atham, Resort Manager, emphasized the transformation extends beyond physical design: “This transformation goes beyond aesthetics – it’s a careful orchestration of space, service excellence, and emotional detail. From villa layouts and in-villa experiences to minibar selection, outdoor offerings, views, and quiet gestures from your butler, each moment is designed to immerse guests into the spirit of chic island living.”
Luxury Collection Positioning

The villa renovation forms part of Sun Siyam Iru Fushi’s evolution within Sun Siyam’s newly launched Luxury Collection brand tier. The resort continues implementing design and service enhancements aimed at establishing it as a destination defined by contemporary island luxury.
The transformation follows Sun Siyam Group’s broader strategy to premiumize its resort brands and differentiate properties across luxury, privé, and lifestyle collections.
While the overwater villa redesign represents the first completed phase, the resort has indicated the transformation will continue across additional property areas, though specific timelines and scope for subsequent phases have not been disclosed.
The reimagined water villas are now available for reservations. For booking information and rates, visit Sun Siyam Iru Fushi’s official website at www.sunsiyam.com or contact the resort’s reservations team directly.
