Guests at Conrad Maldives Rangali Island were treated to a to a gourmet wine celebration by ‘Master of Wine’ Mr. Ron Georgiou at Ithaa Undersea Restaurant on November 21, 2008.
Ithaa (meaning ‘pearl’ in Dihevi), is a unique dining venue and one of the world’s first all-glass under-sea restaurants. It is set five metres below the surface with 180-degree panoramic underwater views.
Mr. Ron Georgiou, one among the 264 ‘Masters of Wine’ in the world, presides over the world-class wine experience on offer at the seven restaurants and three bars at the Conrad Maldives Rangali Island. Care is taken to ensure that the wine both compliments the cuisine, and excites and challenges guest expectations.
Ron’s own personal creation is the underground Wine Cellar, which houses over 10,000 bottles of wine from the Old and New Worlds. Ron’s nurturing of the wine program at the resort for the last seven and a half years has seen the Conrad Maldives Rangali Island win the ‘2 Glass Award-Winning Wine List’ as voted by Wine Spectator Magazine Restaurant Awards program 2008. His passionate mixing of wine, combined with travel, art and music anecdotes made this a night to remember.
