Maldivian resort transforms into mysterious island paradise with curated dining experiences, celebrity chef collaborations running through early January
Four Seasons Resort Maldives at Landaa Giraavaru has announced an immersive holiday concept for the 2025-2026 season, reimagining the property as “Ellgy Island,” a fictional destination the resort describes as appearing once every century.
The theatrical theme, which the resort characterizes as blending elements of adventure films with mystery narratives, will frame the property’s culinary and entertainment programming from mid-December through early January. The concept centers on vine-wrapped architectural installations, tropical landscaping elements, and a musical atmosphere featuring cumbia and calypso influences.
Signature Dining Events

The resort’s festive calendar opens with “Truffles of the Secret Grove” at Blu Beach Club, scheduled for December 19 and 26, and January 2 at 7:00 pm. The truffle-focused menu will feature Umbrian black and white truffles prepared alongside turbot and fresh egg tagliolini.
Between December 20 and January 6, the property will operate “The Beach Brew Hut” on Blu Beach from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm daily. The temporary venue will offer a rotating selection of craft and rare beers sourced from across Asia, including breweries in Japan, Indonesia, Thailand, India, Sri Lanka, Vietnam and Laos.
“Treasures of the Eternal Maharaja’s Express” will take place at Café Landaa on December 22 and January 3 at 7:00 pm, featuring subcontinental cuisine including tandoori kebabs, multiple biryani preparations, malai lobster and regional curries. The evening will include a chaat station, Himalayan beers, and entertainment from DJs and dancers.
On December 27 and January 5, also at Café Landaa, “Where the Lotus Sleeps” will present an Asian-focused menu at 7:00 pm. Dishes will include Himalayan momos, lotus root spring rolls, wok preparations, crispy pork belly and roasted duck, accompanied by live music and DJ entertainment.
Celebrity Chef Appearances

The resort has secured two notable culinary collaborations for the season. From December 28 through January 7, Chef Kobayashi from Sushi-Toshi in Kobe will conduct intimate omakase experiences at 7:00 pm and 9:00 pm, limited to 12 guests per seating. The menu will feature sushi, sake pairings and Wagyu beef specialties from the Kobe region. Chef Kobayashi will also participate in the resort’s December 29 beach event and New Year’s Eve celebration on December 31.
On January 7 and 8, Chef Jeroen Achtien of Inter Scaldes, a two-Michelin-star restaurant in Zeeland, Netherlands, will present dinners at Fuego beginning at 7:00 pm. Working alongside his wife and collaborator Sanne Achtien and the resort’s culinary team, the chef will prepare Zeeland seafood and dry-aged local fish using techniques including fire cooking and fermentation. The beachfront dinners require advance reservations due to limited seating, with vegetarian options available.
Additional Programming
On January 1, Café Landaa will host “Taste of a New Dawn,” a New Year’s Day brunch running from 8:00 am to 12:30 pm. The menu will include made-to-order mimosas, eggs Benedict and other breakfast items, with DJ entertainment provided.
“Lobster Oracles” is scheduled for January 4 at 7:00 pm at Blu Beach Club, featuring multiple lobster preparations and presentations in what the resort describes as an evolving culinary showcase.
The Ellgy Island programming represents Four Seasons Landaa Giraavaru’s approach to seasonal celebrations, integrating themed environments with international culinary partnerships and daily entertainment offerings throughout the extended holiday period.
