Ultra-Luxury 38-Villa Resort to Transition to Autograph Collection Brand on 1 November 2025, Gaining Access to Marriott Bonvoy’s 248 Million Members

CDL Hospitality Trusts has announced a significant rebranding of its flagship Maldivian property, with Raffles Maldives Meradhoo set to become The Halcyon Private Isles Maldives, Autograph Collection, effective 1 November 2025. The strategic transition marks a new chapter for the ultra-luxury twin-island resort and strengthens its positioning within Marriott International’s prestigious portfolio.
Transition from Raffles to Autograph Collection

By mutual agreement, the resort will cease operating under the “Raffles Hotels & Resorts” brand effective 31 October 2025. Operations will continue seamlessly throughout and following the transition, with no interruption to guest services or existing reservations.
The rebranding places the property within Autograph Collection, part of Marriott International’s portfolio of over 30 distinguished hotel brands. Autograph Collection comprises more than 300 independent hotels worldwide, each hand-selected for their inherent craft, distinct design perspective, and immersive guest experiences.
Marketed under the tagline “Exactly Like Nothing Else,” the Autograph Collection brand emphasizes each property’s unique character and local authenticity while providing the operational benefits of Marriott’s global systems and service standards.
Strategic Franchise Partnership
The resort will operate under a new franchise agreement with Marriott International, providing access to the Marriott Bonvoy loyalty programme’s 248 million members worldwide, along with the company’s extensive global distribution channels and strategic partnerships. This infrastructure is expected to significantly enhance the property’s visibility and accessibility to international luxury travelers.
The Halcyon: Redefining Private Island Luxury

Set within one of the Maldives’ most pristine and secluded atolls, The Halcyon Private Isles offers an immersive experience showcasing the archipelago’s natural beauty and cultural heritage. The ultra-exclusive retreat features just 38 villas, each starting from 220 square meters, designed for discerning modern travelers seeking privacy and authentic island traditions within a contemporary luxury framework.
The resort spans two private islands: one featuring elegant overwater villas, the other offering tranquil beachfront accommodations. Property amenities include five distinctive restaurants and bars, alongside a serene spa sanctuary, creating a comprehensive yet intimate hospitality experience.
Industry Perspectives
Vincent Yeo, Chief Executive Officer of the manager of H-REIT and the trustee-manager of HBT, expressed enthusiasm about the transformation: “We are excited with the new identity of the Resort, which will cater to the discerning needs of a very special type of customer longing for a truly private experience, while leveraging Marriott’s global platform.”
Gautam Bhandari, Senior Vice President, Hotel Development & Operations for Singapore & Maldives at Marriott International, commented: “We are pleased to collaborate with CDL Hospitality Trusts through this strategic conversion. As demand continues to grow for distinctive and high-quality stays, we remain focused on expanding our footprint in key destinations.”
Market Implications
The conversion reflects broader trends in Maldivian luxury hospitality, where established properties are increasingly aligning with major hotel groups to access expanded distribution networks and loyalty programmes. The move positions The Halcyon to compete more effectively within the ultra-luxury segment while maintaining its distinctive private island character.
Marriott International currently operates more than 9,600 properties across 143 countries and territories, making it one of the world’s leading hospitality companies. The addition of The Halcyon Private Isles strengthens Marriott’s presence in the Maldives’ competitive luxury resort market.
Existing reservations under the Raffles Maldives Meradhoo name will be honored following the transition, with guests receiving communication regarding the rebranding in advance of their scheduled arrivals.
